The Gold Rush (1925) Movie Review

Headlined by Charlie Chaplin, who also wrote,produced, and directed this silent film and declared that this was the film he wanted to be remembered by.

Storyline

A lone prospector ventures into Alaska looking for gold. He gets mixed up with some burly characters and falls in love with the beautiful Georgia. He tries to win her heart with his singular charm.

1942, Re-release

In 1942, Chaplin released a new version of The Gold Rush, taking the original silent 1925 film and composing and recording a musical score, adding a narration which he recorded himself, and tightening the editing which reduced the film's running time by several minutes.
